Pratt IXD Diners Club

We’re Pratt MS IXD students who are hungry to hang out with our fellow students - and hungry for good food! The Diners Club is an invite-only* monthly gathering where we escape the pressures of grad school madness to share a meal, unwind, and engage in chill conversation. Each month, the Diners Club meets at a carefully chosen restaurant or club, where we pick a place with a mix of great cuisine or good music that reflects the diverse backgrounds and tastes of our members.

We’ll order plates of seriously good food (yeah, we make sure the spots have vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options—no one gets left out), OR get tix to awesome music shows that inspire us, and from there the conversations take off...we dive into discussions about class schedules (who’s even teaching that course), we dream about career options, we swap our NYC subway stories, and we throw down on debates over future tech, the latest in UX/UI, or what music we’re listening to or what gallery shows we’ve visited - or maybe we just vent about the chaos of school and life in general. And we’ll laugh a lot! This isn’t just dinner or a show —it’s our break from the grind, and a space to be real, to think out loud, to share insights and thoughts, and to fill up our creative fuel tanks.

* Invites are limited due to the need to acquire table reservations in advance.

Oh, so you like pizza? REAL NYC pizza? Let’s get down…

In 1958, brothers Giuseppe & Pasquale Pappalardo moved from the town of Bosco Tre Casa in Naples, Italy to America. Settling in Staten Island, they opened Joe & Pat’s in 1960. Their mother Maria joined the business in 1961 and the following year, they were reunited with their father, Angelo and Seven more brothers and sisters. Since then, the restaurant has been serving authentic dishes from their home country and a secret Neopolitan recipe for a special thin crust pizza that has made the restaurant famous today.

Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options are available!

The BCD story starts with Hee Sook Lee a first generation Korean immigrant who loved to cook and share with her family. Her mother-in-law owned a restaurant in “Bukchang Dong” (district in Korea, which BCD is named after), where Mrs. Lee gained early training in the Korean food industry. After immigrating to America, Mrs. Lee chose to focus on Soon Tofu among thousands of other Korean foods, due to its superb taste and health benefits. She had a vision to be successful in America, and built her dream one bowl at a time. Her legacy continues on everyday through the efforts of her hardworking staff who put in all her traditions and recipes into each meal served.

PAST EVENT - Thai Villa

The first (unoffical) meeting of the IXD Diners Club was held at the impeccable Thai Villa, where good food and good conversation ensued. The original three members - Nikhil, Pujan and John - had an amazing evening of friendship and camaraderie, discussing grad school, life, music, art, and the future. During that meal they became excited about the possibility of forming a group of other Pratt IXD grad students who would agree to meet monthly at interesting (and delicious) locations to enjoy a meal together and to share our combined insights and experiences.

And thus, the IXD Diners Club was born…
